Mediation, Conciliation & Facilitation

David is a Barrister and Solicitor and former corporate lawyer and was the first Secretary General of an Australian dispute resolution centre.

He has managed over 2,000 disputes with settlements totalling in excess of $1 billion.

David is a member of the CPR Asia Pacific Advisory Council and on the mediator panels of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, NSW Law Society, NSW Supreme Court, District Court and NSW Land and Environment Court.

Originally trained in Mediation and Facilitation at Harvard Law School, the University of Hawaii and by the American Arbitration Association, David is now an Adjunct Lecturer, School of Professional and Continuing Education, The University of Hong Kong.

He is an accredited mediator under the Australian National Mediator Standards.

Design and Provision of Training

David has conducted mediation/negotiation training courses in Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Macau, New Zealand and the Philippines.

David has developed negotiation and mediation courses at an introductory level, intensive 5-day core skills training and at an advanced level.

David has also trained groups specifically in dealing with complaints, with representing clients in negotiation and mediation processes and in specific application of dispute management skills in specialty areas.

He is on the Training Faculty of the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution in New York and has been approved as a trainer by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.

David has managed disputes in a broad range of areas including telecommunications, construction, petroleum, electricity, franchise, food, planning and development and health and environment.
